Free Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Training
Primary care is often the first point of contact for people affected by domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) due to the physical injuries and mental health issues that result from abuse. Primary care have an important role to play in addressing domestic, family and sexual violence and helping survivors access services.
We are one of 11 PHN’s nationally funded to implement the Domestic, Family and Sexual Program pilot program designed to improve the primary healthcare response for those experiencing, or at risk of domestic and family violence. The program is designed as a ‘whole of practice’ approach to improve referral pathways between practices and DFSV services.
The Care and Connect program provides a range of training opportunities which include our free, one- hour Recognise, Respond and Refer – Introduction to domestic and family violence training and also, eLearning DFSV modules located through Your Practice Portal.
Eligibility
Training is available to general and allied health practices within the Nepean Blue Mountains region.
Learning Outcomes
- Discuss the prevalence of domestic and family violence
- Identify the barriers to disclosing domestic and family violence and issues around leaving
- Recognise the signs of domestic and family violence and respond appropriately
- List of referral pathways in this region for those effected by domestic and family violence and those seeking behaviour change support
