Flu Vaccinations
Winter is coming! Talk to your GP about a flu vaccination before it's too late.
Under the National Immunisation Program, the following people are eligible for free flu vaccines:
- Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years
- All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
- People aged 6 months and over with certain medical conditions that increase their chance of severe influenza and its complications
- Pregnant women (at any stage during pregnancy)
- People aged 65 years and over
It is recommended that people get the influenza vaccine anytime from April onwards to be protected for the peak flu season, which is generally June to September. NSW Health has an influenza factsheet if you would like more information.
You can access your immunisation history statement through Medicare or My Health Record.
Influenza Vaccination During Pregnancy
It is recommended that pregnant women speak to their doctor, nurse or midwife to discuss getting flu vaccine at any stage of their pregnancy.
