Immunisation Scholarships
We are funding scholarships to support registered nurses working in general practices or residential aged care homes in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow or Penrith regions.
Background
Nurses play an important role in national vaccination initiatives, providing education and support, and advocating for optimal health.
The 347 National Immunisation Program for Healthcare Practitioners course is offered through the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) and enables registered nurses in general practice and aged care to become accredited at providing vaccinations for patients as authorised nurse immunisers.
This education opportunity will increase the capacity of nurses in our region to provide vaccinations to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Vaccination authorities
The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) has a helpful scope of practice resource for health professionals administering vaccines
